Monster Race/Breed: Beggar's Canyon Womp Rat
Series: Star Wars
Appearance: Take a capybara, make it six feet from snout to rump, give it mange, clawed feet, more of a snout, and a scabby tail.
Demeanor: It's possible to domesticate them, but mostly they're dangerous pests. They usually travel in packs of up to 20 so that they can overwhelm and kill larger animals. Scavengers and hunters, very persistent and stubborn - even killing one won't make it release its bite.
Powers: They can eat damn near anything and chew through most things, don't need much water, have viciously powerful jaws, and are highly prolific, whelping as many as eight at a time. They're edible but strong tasting.

Monster: Lesser Dewback
Series: Star Wars
Appearance: Horse-tall rhinolike lizard with its legs held under its body, possessing thick pebbled scales in green, brown, red, gray, or rarely blue.
Demeanor: Mild, gentle most of the time. They're fairly easy to domesticate and coax into carrying things even as adults, though raising one from an egg or a pup is best. Larger predators or ones they've learned to fear can spook them; they will either run or bite and trample to good effect.
Powers: They're strong, omnivorous, sturdy, can briefly run very fast, can go with little water, and have a good sense of smell. Also very edible. Sluggish in the cold.

Monster Race/Breed: Sketto
Series: Star Wars
Appearance: A cross between a dragonfly and a deep-sea fish, the kind with a long body and huge teeth, with some lizard thrown in. Around a foot long counting the tail.
Demeanor: Most of the time they sleep upside down in enclosed dark spaces. At night they take wing, sometimes in swarms, and eat insects and tiny animals. They also land and pierce the skins of larger, usually-sleeping animals with their long thin teeth in order to lap up the blood. If you're awake, moving, and not going after their young, they usually won't bother you.
Powers: They fly loudly and walk slowly but much more quietly, see well in low light, possess very sharp teeth, and have numbing anticoagulant saliva that prevents quick clotting.

Monster Race/Breed: Scurriers
Series: Star Wars
Appearance: Sort of a kangaroo-lizard-rodent with gazelle horns. Bipedal, usually move by hopping. A couple feet long counting the tail.
Demeanor: Omnivores that tend to scavenge for food and nesting material. Scurriers may travel in packs of as many as thirty. They tunnel, get into everything, and scatter when threatened, though they bite if cornered.
Powers: Prolific. The bite hurts and can cause disease sometimes but is nothing special. Have a serious tendency to pick apart machinery, though. Edible.

Monster Race/Breed: Jakrab
Series: Star Wars
Appearance: Strung-out, mostly hairless greyhound-jackrabbit creatures
Demeanor: Very swift, inquisitive, tend to charge through. They're flightly herbivores and not dangerous unless well cornered. Tend to stick to loose herds and signal each other with their ears.
Powers: Fast and prolific. Very lean meat.

Monster Race/Breed: Canyon krayt dragon.
Series: Star Wars
Appearance: A dragonlike monitor lizard with a study head, cranial horns, ridges on its spine, thick scales in yellow-brown, tan, black, or green, and a spiked tail.
Also? Big. Big big big big big. Oh god. They can get a good ninety feet long.
Demeanor: Much smaller than greater krayt dragons, canyon krayts den in tight spaces like caves and canyons. They mostly sleep and rarely need to eat, and usually go for whatever's ventured too close to their den, though they'll go out looking if they have to. Any animal that is not another krayt dragon is prospective food.

Individuals have had baby ones as pets, but don't expect a loyal companion. A well-tended krayt might tolerate and not eat you, but it associates your species with food now, so if it's not kept confined...
Powers: It's said that krayts are descended from the Star Dragons. Certainly they have a suite of abilities which seems to be cheating.

They're far quieter on the hunt than they should be, and have massively thick, essentially impervious scales. To stun prey some let loose a roar that seems to reverberate through the body of a listener; it's very hard not to run or freeze. Others have envenomed teeth or spines. They're all fierce and powerful.

They can be killed by shooting or driving something through their sinus cavities or soft palate and into their brains, which is possible when their mouths are open or they're facing you head on. Otherwise you basically need mines or heavy artillery - these are the Death Stars of Tatooine's wildlife. Canny older ones may keep their heads clear of humanoid prey while it's alive, trampling or attacking with their tails.

They digest prey with the help of gizzard stones, which eventually become dragon pearls. These are useful. Krayts are edible, but butchering them is intensely difficult.
