Holograms: These are recorded messages that respond to various character actions. Inside their booths, the hologram appears as a nondescript, partly see-through, blue being the same species and gender as the character who activates it. The holograms have no outside components that can be broken, however the glass that surrounds the holograms can be damaged. The booths are sometimes made out of wood or metal depending on what area they are placed in. Hidden inside the booth there is technology on par with the communication devices. Good luck if your character is trying to figure out how it works, it's about a billion years into the future.

Usual spiels:

"Welcome to The Library, please make sure to update yourself on The Rules listed on slates around The Library! The Rules must be followed to assure that all of The Library's guests enjoy their stay with us."

No hologram is able to answer why the characters are in The Library. If asked questions not relating to the hologram's purpose, every hologram will politely decline to answer and ask the character if they have other questions.

Catalog Holograms: These holograms come in booths with signs that state in several languages "INFORMATION". The hologram will answer any and all questions about locations of books (it won't say who is holding what copy of a book, and therefore won't say the location of characters' books as they are "checked out" and therefore private) as well as suggest books for the character to read based on what books they have read or visited via the gates. These holograms also will offer directions and printed maps (which are all useless because the printers are out of ink). Most of these holograms are in working condition, even in highly damaged areas.

Market Holograms: Taking the place of shopkeepers, these holograms basically are talking vending machines. They can only advertise their products when a character activates them by stepping within two feet of their machine. Many of them will fail to start up and just buzz disconcertingly. Apart from questions about their products, these holograms can also offer directions, but because of their poor upkeep, will sometimes offer wrong directions. Some of these holograms will claim to have items but never give out the item asked for.

Gate Holograms: These holograms monitor and control the gates to the book-worlds. They offer the tech needed to get in and out of the book-worlds and properly operate the gates. These holograms are the only ones that will acknowledge that The Library is in a state of disrepair. It offers weapons to the characters to use against the monsters roaming The Library. However, it doesn't explain why The Library approves these weapons over others to use against the monsters.

Residential Holograms: None of these are operational. The booths may be undamaged, but no matter what the characters try, they don't turn on. These booths are in the lounge areas of the living quarters, where a tv might be placed normally.
